Four for a Boy

“TRI·FLE” |ˈtrīfəl| n.

1. Something of little importance or value.
2. A small amount; a jot.
3. A dessert typically consisting of plain or sponge cake soaked in sherry, rum, or brandy and topped with layers of jam or jelly, custard, and whipped cream.

‘NO ONE IS INTERESTING IN YOUR TRIFLES!’ a friend told me one day.
At that time, I was doing research about human cells, because to compare with the whole universe, my life is just tiny as a cell that we rarely really consider about it. It is a composite thing combined with a lot of small events, a cellular something, which cannot be seen easily.
After that, I was started to observe friends surround me, those ordinary events happen within daily life. That was how the stories began, combined with the quote:

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret never to be told.

Then drew stories on Japanese calligraphic paper scroll as a continuous drawing. Each story has its own style, material and stand by itself, but when you see the whole scroll, they thus become a whole, associated with many individual stories, as the same with the research I did about human cells. The scroll format also presents a ‘secret’ atmosphere, it is extremely private, to open it slightly then able to see next image, like traditional Chinese painting.

This is the four story. (but I actually thought to link three and four stories together before) I would like to play around with strange typeface :)

Bling Bling!

Small Book Art -Touch the poem in a foreign city

A Braille book - it is functional! These dots are cut out by daily newspaper, so they looked very colourful. It represents not only read the actually text in newspaper, you can 'read' a poem in another way.
